I finally saw The Hurt Locker over the weekend and I would have to say it was mediocre movie. I can't tell you if it was better than the other 9 movies nominated for the Oscar and the story line used was just a small tangent different from other war movies. Using a multi talented bomb specialist as a center piece of a movie can only be exciting for so long. After all you know he is the hero of the movie and is most likely not going to get blown to pieces.
The only suspense involved in the movie was related to either disengaging a bomb or shooting at militants, rest of the movie was dry and filled with military men figuring out who is really the boss between them. The ending of the movie was no ending at all, instead it pointed to a recurring theme the military men & women go through every day of their lives, doing the same thing over again the next day and trying to survive. Although I commend the idea behind the entire movie and bringing the bomb specialists the credit they more than deserve, but the entire movie failed to bring a plot other than to bring forward the mundane life of a pissed off soldiers who cannot wait to get out of war.
